WEISS China expands capacities
With the expansion of its capacities and premises in China, WEISS is expanding its market potential. The automation specialist is pursuing its goal of serving its customers worldwide in a more targeted and faster manner through local engineering and associated on-site assembly.
At the end of October, Uwe Weiss, CEO of WEISS World, together with Charlie Yan, Vice President and CEO of WEISS China, opened the new location in the Shanghai Robotic Industrial Zone in Gucun. WEISS has been present on the Chinese market since 2011. With the current investment, the family-run company from Buchen is quintupling its area. ‘Like many companies in our industry, we initially served China as an export market. Together with our Chinese and European customers represented here, we have continued to develop and are now exploiting the potential of a local-for-local organisation,’ said Uwe Weiss during the opening ceremony. ‘Local value creation opens up new opportunities for us in the implementation of automation solutions. Our components and subsystems can be developed in direct customer–supplier dialogue and implemented with the shortest possible delivery times,’ says Charlie Yan, explaining the strategy behind the investment.
Industry-specific solutions
WEISS offers its complete portfolio in China. In addition to individual components such as Rotary Indexing Tables, Pick-and-Place Modules or Linear Axes, the focus will be on Linear Transfer Systems and functional subsystems such as workpiece positioning solutions for robot applications. In doing so, WEISS China specifically addresses the electronics, automotive and classic mechanical engineering sectors. The Chinese experts work closely with WEISS’s international network in the development of customer-specific solutions and regionally adequate components. The global transfer of knowledge opens up advantages for customers in terms of quality, short development times and reliability.
Opening in a festive setting
At the official opening ceremony, Weiss and Yan welcomed invited customers and business partners, as well as representatives of the VDMA and the regional government. In a tour of the new premises, the efficient organisation, the modern engineering and assembly area as well as an extensive test field were presented. Traditionally, WEISS attaches great importance to the quality and reliability of its solutions and thus devotes a lot of attention to their engineering and testing.
