Explore the world of robots
Robots fascinate many people, but they arouse great amazement, especially among children. For this reason, the WEISS Technology Foundation has launched a robotics working group together with the Elztalschule in Dallau. Christian Göltl and Jonas Bodi led the working group on behalf of the WEISS Technology Foundation together with Heinrich Welker, teacher at the Elztalschule, shortly before the summer holidays.
As part of the working group, the 40 children learned what a robot actually is and how it works. In a total of five sessions, they discovered how algorithms work and why they are the basic building block for all programming. The students aged 7 and 8 learned to communicate with a robot and to control it.
The task was to program a robot and steer it through a given course as quickly as possible. At the end of the competition, all children were rewarded for their achievements and commitment: Each participant received a personal certificate and a small gift as a souvenir of the robot club.
Learn together and have fun at the same time. The small robots are programmed via a tablet and go through a predetermined course.
"The robotics club was so well received by the students that we will start planning further events right away," says Christian Göltl, summarizing the enthusiasm of the children. The Elztalschule would also like to expand the offer together with the Weiss Technology Foundation in order to show more students the exciting world of robotics.
