WEISS advances the digitalization for medium-sized companies

The wide range of tools and methods available for digitalization is increasing at a rapid pace. The greatest challenge, especially for medium-sized machine and plant manufacturers, lies in selecting the right processes and methods and implementing them. With its “Triple M – Mission for medium-sized machine manufacturers” series, WEISS has created a platform to bring together component manufacturers, plant manufacturers and operators, and software specialists from the field of virtual engineering and commissioning where they can share experience and expertise. The next meeting of the panel of experts will be held in Stuttgart, Germany during the Motek trade show.

The machine manufacturing industry is in a state of change. The need for the industry to make business processes more efficient is a constant reality. Holistic quality and productivity in manufacturing has already reached peak levels given measures geared towards avoiding downtime, shortening tooling times, route optimization, and the introduction of methods such as 5S and 8D. Digital services are now opening up new opportunities for reducing further waste factors such as startup and commissioning times. Here, digital transformation extends much further than production processes alone. Virtual solutions are taking hold in the mechanical engineering industry – from contacting customers to engineering and supplier management to recruiting employees.

Triple M provides security
Mid-size companies have been coming together as part of the Triple M experience exchange, first initiated by WEISS in March 2022 in Munich, Germany. The participants discussed not only expectations, goals, and approaches, but also the weaknesses of the digital transformation regarding machine and plant manufacturing. Among the participants were well-known companies from the industry such as ISG Industrielle Steuerungstechnik GmbH, go2automation, BBS Automation GmbH, Gluth Systemtechnik GmbH, HEITEC AG, and Lyric Automation Germany GmbH. The second Triple M meeting will be held at ISG in Stuttgart during the Motek trade show to further intensify the experience and expertise exchange.
