Triple M: Validating digital solutions in-house
At the second Triple M-eeting for exchanging experience, the focus was on discussing specific digitalization projects. The participants spoke about using digital tools for customer acquisition, customer retention, shortening project processing times, and optimizing internal processes.
Michael Frieß, Executive Board member of Heitec AG, clearly summarized: “We use what we sell.” The digital solutions and features that Heitec offers to customers are used in-house. They are designed to control projects, detect optimization potential, and even control quality. The connectivity of Heitec solutions in the production environment is a main aspect. However, the system provider is also open to including the components and machines of other manufacturers. Another key decision-making criterion for system operators is the type of data provision. In the industrial environment, cloud solutions still draw critical scrutiny. On-premises solutions could be a possible solution here.
For WEISS, connectivity and integration into an overall system are the fundamental prerequisites for creating new products. As a component supplier for the automotive industry, life sciences, medical technology, electronics, and other sectors, the automation specialists from WEISS encounter a wide range of requirements. The physical integration of components into the overall system is just as important as integrating the WEISS control systems into the higher-level system control. If these prerequisites are satisfied and the overall mechatronic system of the components is reliable and delivers high performance, digital services offer genuine added value.
With its “Triple M – Mission for medium-sized machine manufacturers” series, WEISS GmbH has created a platform to bring together component manufacturers, plant manufacturers and operators, and software specialists from the field of virtual engineering and commissioning where they can share experience and expertise. The platform aims to shed light on the challenges of digitalization – for SMEs in particular – and initiate joint solutions and ideas for implementing them.
