Sample Handling

Task

The dosing of samples and reagents into corresponding trays for analysis tasks usually requires a combination of X, Y and Z movement as a handling system. The sample quantities are often in the range of picoliters. An extremely sensitive movement is required to ensure that the pipetted liquids do not get lost on the way and thus do not contaminate samples.

Solution

The basis is a complete XYZ system built on WEISS standard components. A linear motor axis HN200 with two slides in combination is used. On each slide there is a Pick&Place Module HP70. This allows liquid to be picked up on both sides of the long base axis and dispensed into the trays. Special motion profiles enable an almost jerk-free movement.
